Step into the Multiplayer arena

The Shuffle Draft can get underway with anywhere between 2 and 32 players, with options to play privately with friends or publicly with players from across the globe.

The structure of each tournament can be tailored to your preference. Knockout Cups (2-32 players), Group + Knockout Tournaments (8, 16, or 32 players), or season-long League (2-20 players) formats are all catered for.

You can add in AI Managers too, either to round out the numbers or to help sharpen your skills before taking on your real-life adversaries.

Your Draft, Your Way

You’ll draft each round from dynamically created sets of players based on your customised player pool. Each set has 20 players, and the number of sets is determined by the number of participants. If there are 10 managers in the draft, then there are 10 sets of 20 players.

The player pool can be predefined from either the Men's or Women's game to be made up of various sets; World’s Best, Wonderkids, Veterans, Lower League Legends, and more – giving you a different direction to go in with each new draft. If you want to get even more granular, then you can select from sets defined by specific strengths, like Leadership and Physical.

Each manager picks a player from a set, and that set is then passed on to the next manager in the following round, and so on. This allows draft picks to happen simultaneously, so there's no more waiting around for the spotlight to come back to you.

Another layer of customisation you’ll have is to create your own pools entirely – filtered with options like nationality, player reputation, and club division. The power is in your hands to devise the perfect challenge.

Player pools can also be made up of varying levels of quality; Mixed, to give teams clearer strengths and exploitable weaknesses, through to Higher and Highest, to really test if your tactics are effective with the footballing elite.

With the wide range of players available, Shuffle Draft provides you an opportunity to preview players you may have been considering as a signing within a single-player Career, or to find new targets entirely. See first-hand how these players fit into a particular tactical shape before parting ways with your hard-earned transfer budget in your long-term save.

As the draft progresses, you’ll have visibility on all the current squads as they start to take shape, allowing you a bit of foresight into what players might get taken next and what positions are worth prioritising. You can bookmark any players that catch your eye to reconsider in future rounds, providing another manager doesn’t get there first...

Same Match Days, different experience

Once the draft has concluded, you’ll need to get the tactics board out and start crafting a system capable of playing to your team's strengths. With every draft different, it’ll give you a chance to get creative and experiment with new styles and shapes dependent on your latest squad.

You'll have a choice between squad sizes of 14, 16, 18, and 20 players. Smaller squads require your draft picks to be made with a predetermined formation in mind, with larger squads giving a bit more flexibility and allowing you to pick the best player available on the draft board, regardless of positional need.

One small difference you’ll notice when compared with the single-player Career mode is that players will recover fully between matches, ensuring all your stars are at your disposal for each round.

Keep, Replace, or Remove

Another tool to discover that adds real jeopardy is the concept of Re-Drafts that can be active throughout the tournament.

After matchdays, you’ll have the opportunity to return players to the draft pool or remove players from the tournament entirely, giving you the chance to roll the dice as the system gives you different options to choose from.

Re-Drafts are fully customisable; you can have as many as 5 to extend the drafting experience throughout the tournament, or turn the option off completely and rely solely on your initial draft strategy.

Using this feature adds an extra level of depth and drama to the experience, making you assess your squad after each result and give you the chance to reshape your team. Whether you need a slight tweak or a complete overhaul, the onus is on you to Make The Call.

Shuffle Draft offers a fresh way to experience FM27, putting your managerial expertise to the test as you explore the deeper intricacies of squad building.

If you’re feeling an itch to prove your competitive ability, explore new players, or test the specifics of newly created tactics, then Shuffle Draft might be exactly what you’re looking for.

When you’re ready, enter the draft lobby and go toe-to-toe against friends and foe alike. Take on all comers.

Coming soon, we’re going to explore the new additions and upgrades across FM27 Console, FM27 Touch, and FM27 Mobile. Stay tuned.

FM27 Shuffle Draft FAQs

  • What is Shuffle Draft in FM27?

Shuffle Draft is a new online game mode for FM27 that reimagines the Fantasy Draft mode from previous games. Created in conjunction with FIFAe, Shuffle Draft is designed to be a competitive, fun, adaptable experience to play solo, against friends, or the world.

  • Why has Shuffle Draft been added for FM27?

Alongside the upgrades and additions to the single-player experience of FM27, we wanted to add a new option for players who enjoy online and competitive play. To achieve this, the team has adapted and improved the previous online draft format, to create something more engaging, unpredictable and rewarding to play. With the power to customise your playing pool and introduce re-drafts, Shuffle Draft gives you more ways to play.

  • What are the formats and player limits for Shuffle Draft?

Up to 32 players can be part of a Shuffle Draft game. Selecting the Knockout Cup or Group Stage & Knockouts format will allow for 32 teams, while a League format allows up to 20 teams.

  • Can I play Shuffle Draft offline with AI opponents?

Yes. A Shuffle Draft event can be created offline, with AI teams filling the required slots for any format you select. Additionally, when playing online, remaining spaces can be filled by AI managers. Both private and public lobby options are available, so you can design your own Shuffle Draft or join an event made by others.

  • How is the pool of selectable players established in Shuffle Draft?

Before a draft begins, the event host selects the parameters to create ‘sets’ of 20 players, for participants to then draft from. As well having preset groups to choose from, such as ‘Wonderkids’, ‘Veterans’ and ‘World’s Best’, there is also the option to focus the draft pool on players with particular strengths, such as ‘Physicality’ or ‘Leadership’. Alternatively, the Shuffle Draft host can select an entirely custom pool of players, with filters and search tools to help select the right group. Players from both men’s and women’s football can be used in Shuffle Draft, though not within the same event.

  • How does the draft process work and what size are the squads?

The pool of selected players is split into sets. There are as many sets as there are teams in the Shuffle Draft. Participants then have a set amount of time (chosen by the host) to select a player from a set. Once all teams have chosen a player, each set is then passed onto another participant – meaning everyone has a new set of players to select from. All teams draft players simultaneously, rather than waiting for your turn.

At the end of each round you’ll see the player selected by every team and can view their squads, as well as your own, to aid with your tactical selections. As well as picking players, you can bookmark them to help with squad planning. You’ll always be able to see your selected players on screen, helping you understand what gaps in the squad are left to fill.

Squads can consist of 14, 16, 18, or 20 players. Once all selections have been made, the tournament begins.

  • Once the squads are set, how does the tournament play out?

Squad selection, tactical setup, and the Match Engine itself are all familiar to the single-player FM27 Career experience, with the same options and functionality available in Shuffle Draft. Matches can take place simultaneously, meaning a ‘round’ in a knockout tournament or a ‘match week’ in a league format will see matches occurring at the same time, with the ability to see results and statistics between games.

Any player injuries or fatigue are removed before the next match, ensuring everyone has a fully fit squad of players to choose from each time.

  • What is a ‘Re-Draft’ in Shuffle Draft and how does it work?

To add further unpredictability or tactical planning to a Shuffle Draft event, the Re-Draft option is available. This sees participants either return players to the draft pool, or remove them from the tournament entirely to replace them with a new player. Re-Drafts can occur up to five times through a Shuffle Draft, each of which can include a total of 20 returns or removals. These options are set by the event host during the initial setup process.

  • Is the gameplay shown for Shuffle Draft representative of what will be in FM27 on launch?

The gameplay shown is from a development build of the game, meaning it is subject to change before FM27’s full release on 10 November. This build contains information that is still under approval process by right holders and may contain data that does not, at this time, accurately reflect real world data.

  • Is there more to come for pre-launch looks at FM27 gameplay and changes?

Our next focus will be on non-PC titles this year, showcasing the fresh features and new additions that evolve each of FM27 Console, FM27 Touch and FM27 Mobile.
