Recruit with more purpose

Rebuilding and developing your squad is at the heart of your Football Manager experience. In FM27 Console, you’ll have more tools at your disposal to make smarter decisions, with greater depth and ease at every step.

Several screens have been redesigned, including the Player Database, Transfer and Contract Negotiations, and Recruitment Focuses. Key information is now easier to identify, while a controller-friendly interface will help you navigate your options and make informed decisions with confidence.

Searching for players has been made easier, with the ability to “find similar players to…” added to FM27 Console. Whether you’re searching for a replacement after a rival club snapped up your academy’s brightest prospect, or you need to inject fresh legs to an ageing squad, it’s now quicker and simpler to identify suitable alternatives.

And because no manager can do it all alone, your backroom team will now give you greater support during those transfer negotiations with live advice.

Preparation meets opportunity

Each match day has its own significance – and you’ll now receive suggestions on how to best prepare for the upcoming opposition.

That’s where Match Preparation messages come in, making its debut in FM27 Console to help you get the most out of your team ahead of kick-off.

You can build out Match Preparation with up to 3 unique sessions, covering In Possession, Out of Possession, and Set Pieces. This gives you greater control over your team’s readiness and helps ensure no detail is overlooked as you look ahead to the next fixture.

Whether you’re fine-tuning your tactics for a pre-season friendly or preparing for a FIFA World Cup™ knockout clash, the decisions are yours to make. Get your preparations right, give your team the best possible platform, and let your management do the talking on the pitch.

A smoother way to play

Recruitment and Match Prep are two new additions, but they're part of a wider set of enhancements that make the game smoother and easier to navigate.

Within the Preferences menu, we’ve introduced Information Display, designed to help you optimise your experience. The new scaling option displays the game in a way tailored to your gaming setup. Larger, aimed at those with a sofa and TV setup, or Smaller if you’re playing at a desk with the screen closer to you.

Button Mapping has been reintroduced with major upgrades, too. Navigation and scrolling can be flipped between both the left and right stick on controllers, and your action buttons can be customised to suit your setup. This improved accessibility feature allows for a smoother, more personalised navigation through the areas of the game you wish to explore.

The top navigation bar has also been updated to reflect your managerial priorities, while the secondary navigation allows quicker access to the areas of the game that matter most to you.

And lastly, across the interface you’ll benefit from reduced input latency and improved performance. Collectively, these changes will help you move between screens and make decisions with greater ease.

More to discover

There’s plenty more to look forward to in FM27 Console, with an array of additional features and improvements to discover.

To best visualise the Match Preparation sessions you’ll have implemented, we’ve implemented a range of improvements to the Match Engine, enhancing both the flow of the action on the pitch and the presentation of the Match Days themselves.

Those improvements will also be visible within Shuffle Draft, which will be available on FM27 Console Platforms from day 1. Step into the multiplayer arena against friends and foes, as you explore this reimagined fantasy draft mode that puts squad building at the heart of the action.

Furthermore, you’ll be able to better dissect the matches following the final whistle, with Pass and Heat Maps brought back to give you greater insight to your tactical shape.

Tactical Tweaks arrive on the scene, to be used in tandem with our refined Shouts system – meaning your voice from the dugout now carries more weight than ever. Tweaks will deliver fluid tactical changes for your players to action, with shouts designed to elicit an emotional response to your directives.

Cup Draws make their eagerly awaited return, allowing you to immerse yourself further into your save as you await your name being drawn out the hat. The draw itself can be sped up or slowed down to add a bit of suspense to the magic of the draw.

And for the first time in FM27 Console, Indonesian has been added as a playable language.

With a host of new additions, refinements and returning favourites, FM27 Console (Xbox/PlayStation 5) is all about giving you more control over your managerial journey.

Recruitment has been powered up, Navigation made smoother, and Match Preparation gives you more influence than ever before - there’s never been a better time to take charge.

Coming next, we’ll explore FM27 Touch and dive into the new features the platform has to offer.

FM27 Console FAQs

  • What changes to squad recruitment have been made in FM27 Console?

An overhaul of several screens, information delivery, and functionality when using a controller have been implemented to help you make faster and more intuitive moves when developing your squad. Player Database, Recruitment Focuses, negotiation screens and more have received changes that make important information easier to find, particularly as you search for players outside of your club. A ‘find similar players to…’ option simplifies identifying players to replace a key outgoing player, or pick out transfer targets that match the skillset you look for in a squad.

To help with building enticing offers, during transfer negotiations there will also be additional advice from your backroom staff on making a successful bid for a player.

  • How does Match Preparation work in FM27 Console?

Placing more focus on training your squad to be ready for the next opponent, Match Preparation messages will be available in your inbox. These messages prompt you to decide what your team’s training focus should be over three unique sessions, to maximise your readiness for the match ahead. For example, if you are planning to soak up pressure and catch the opponent on the counter attack, an ‘Out of Possession’ session can help your team’s ability to execute this strategy.

  • What further quality of life and navigation improvements have been made in FM27 Console?

To further support a wider range of gaming setups, the Information Display options, available in Preferences, allows to you adjust the size of information on screen. For example, playing with a large TV across the room may be easier with the ‘Larger’ display option, while the ‘Smaller’ option can suit players who have the screen closer to them.

Button mapping is once again available in FM27 Console to help customise controls to your liking and offer greater accessibility. This includes new options such as switching between the left and right controller sticks for navigation or scrolling. Aligning with FM27 on PC, the primary and secondary navigation bars at the top of the screen offer simple access to the most common and important screens, with minimal button presses needed to go into more specific areas.

This, plus general optimisation work across the board around speed of navigation and game performance, help you flow through FM27 Console faster and with greater control.

  • What other additions are coming to FM27 Console?

The new Shuffle Draft mode can be played online or offline. Shuffle Draft is a fast-paced competitive experience where you draft fantasy squads of players and compete against real-world opponents or AI squads in high-stakes competitions, with plenty of ways to customise and personalise every event.

Tactical Tweaks and upgrades to the Shouts system both offer you more influence from the touchline during match days. Execute tactical instructions with ease, or trigger a reaction from your players, to help turn the direction of a game in your favour. Within those matches, a wide range of additions are made to the atmosphere and presentation, creating more variety and believability.

After matches, discover more data to inform your next steps as a manager, including Pass Maps and Heat Maps. Finally, Cup Draws returns, with adjustable speed for the draw, for a more immersive moment as you discover who you’ll play in the next round.

  • When will FM27 Console be available and on what platforms?

FM27 Console launches from 10 November on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox handheld devices and PlayStation 5. PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can also play FM27 Console via the Microsoft Store or Xbox PC app.
