In previous FM27 feature deep dives, we’ve covered the way you navigate the game world, the aspects that immerse you in the living, breathing football universe beyond your club and the tools that empower you; from the training ground to the technical area.
Now, it’s time to explore the virtual representation of you that’s on the touchline. With more choices and tools in the Manager Creator, a step forward in Newgen faces and enhanced accessibility options, you’ve got more ways to craft your visual identity.

Your managerial legacy begins long before your first match. Whether you’re creating a mirror image of yourself or an alter ego, the creator tool is the first chapter in your story.
When crafting your character, you’ll discover a greater variety in body types as well as additional ethnicity options and updates to facial features and skin. Facial hair has been improved, while the hair physics improvements showcased in our Match Day Experience deep dive also apply here to give your character more personality.
Expressing your individuality also comes from what you wear. Hats are now a staple of your wardrobe – with both woollen hats and caps available, the latter being ideal for those early season 3pm kick-offs.
To reflect the greater variety of looks on the touchline in the professional game, there are also a host of new and refreshed clothing items to choose from. These include a new shirt and jumper combination, as well as the addition of both scarves and gloves as new accessories.
Whatever you wear, you’ve got more freedom to finesse your look thanks to the reintroduction of the colour picker.
The ability to set your Favourite Club has also returned to the game, with the added choice of specifying up to four favourite clubs before your career begins.
Collectively, these changes offer you deeper control. The way your manager looks and dresses lays the foundations for your story to evolve in the living, breathing football universe that exists beyond your club.
Within the Manager Creator, you’ll discover another new option available to you – the ability to create a manager that’s a wheelchair user.
For FM27, we’ve introduced an electric-powered style of wheelchair as part of our ongoing efforts to offer greater representation within your game world.
When a wheelchair is selected, you’ll see this reflected across all relevant areas of the game; from the start screen to match day cutscenes. Should you go on to win football’s biggest prizes, you’ll notice that the trophy lift plinths have been reconfigured to ensure accessibility for all.
Greater representation on the touchline works alongside accessibility preference improvements as a result of your feedback and our internal reviews.
Font sizes across the game have been increased. Additionally, the scaling modes we mentioned in our first FM27 deep dive have been renamed to deliver greater clarity. These are now Large, Medium and Small*.
Together, these changes make the game clearer to read, smoother to navigate and more inclusive.
The day your latest cohort of Newgens arrives is the highlight of most seasons, with just one five-star potential player enough to have you dreaming of future glories.
It’s an area of the game that generates a lot of conversations and feedback. In FM27, Newgens have taken another step forward.
Their skin, colourisation and hairs have been improved, while stronger camera angles and lighting illuminate profiles better than before. You’ll also notice greater variety in both your future stars and those of your rivals, with a wider range of facial poses and positional adjustments helping each player feel more distinct.
Any Youth Intake can redefine your squad and legacy, so you’ll now enjoy greater variety and individuality with those would-be Wonderkids.
These changes deliver greater expression in FM27, elevating your own visual identity and delivering more individuality to your club’s next dynasty.
In our next deep dive, we’ll showcase a round up of some of the other game changes, including upgrades to the 2D Match Engine and In-Game Editor
*These scaling mode changes are only available for people playing with QHD or 4K monitors (1440p and above).
Combining community feedback and internal reviews, our key goals in these areas of FM27 were:
More detail and variation in skin, colourisation, hair, and overall presentation has been added to newgens. You will also see more variation between newgens in facial expressions and body language to give them more individuality and character in how they look across the game. This includes adjustments in camera and lighting placement for their images.
The previous changes shown around player models, hair movement, and more all carry over into the creation and actions of a manager in FM27, giving you greater control over their look, and bringing more personality into how they appear and interact in the game. When creating your manager, you’ll find new options for body morphs, ethnicity, skin features and facial features. Additional options for hair and facial hair are also available, along with more clothing to choose from. This includes hats; a long-requested addition for the game. Other additional clothing items can be selected, such as jumpers, scarves and gloves. The custom colour picker tool is also available, to give you deeper customisation in your look.
Within the manager creator tools is the ability to set up character as a wheelchair user. The wheelchair featured in-game is electric-powered. If you select the wheelchair option, this change will be visible in multiple areas of the game, including the start screen and on the touchline. Also, if you win a trophy with your team, the subsequent trophy lift cutscene will feature an on-pitch plinth adapted to ensure it is accessible.
The gameplay shown is from a development build of the game, meaning it is subject to change before release. Additional work will be focused on further visual optimisation and incorporating feedback from recent user testing. This build contains information that is still under approval process by right holders and may contain data that does not, at this time, accurately reflect real world data.
Yes. We will shortly be releasing an additional blog post sharing details on various other areas of FM27, including the 2D match engine, In-Game Editor, and wider quality-of-life improvements.
